Why didnt I get a dark stain like my friend?
There are many factors that play a vital role in the attainment of a dark henna stain.
Every individuals skin reacts differently to henna and gives a different stain.
1. Location of henna tattoo - Henna stain is the darkest on the hands(especially the palms) and feet. The farther you go away, like the neck, face and torso, the lighter the stain becomes.
2. Skin thickness - The thinner the skin, the lighter the stain. That is the reason why henna tattoo on pregnant belly is lighter and the stain on palm and soles are the darkest.
3. Body heat - The more the body heat, the darker will be the henna stain. If you have cold hand/feet, apply vicks on the henna tattoo after removing the henna paste.
4. The time of the month - Summer tattoos are more intense than tattoos in winter.
5. Skin chemistry - Good blood circulation is important for dark stain, along with hormones.
6. Levels of stress and fatigue - Obviously, stress isnt a good thing for anything!!
7. Products used on the henna - Water put on on henna tattoo within 24 hours of application is bad. Other oils such as baby oil, petroleum based products such as vaseline, Vitamin E, sunscreens and antioxidants prevents the henna from staining the skin.
8. Medications - Some medications can impair henna stain.
9. Poor health
10. If you are in your premenstural phase, your henna stain can be poor.
